Mississippi Valley Amateur Radio Association

Web Site

The Mississippi Valley Amateur Radio Association (MVARA) is a small, but active, group of ham operators in the Lacrosse, Wisconsin. We meet at 7pm in Rm 1107 of the new La Crosse County Administration Building at 6th and State St in La Crosse, WI. Parking is in the lot east of the building, and entry is through the doors on the east side of the building facing 7th St. The doors are on a timer, and only open from 6:45 pm - 7:15 pm. We also try to get together for breakfast once per month.  Please see our Event Calendar for upcoming meeting dates as well as other MVARA activities. Also if you are interested in VE testing, we give tests at every MVARA monthly meeting. If your interested in a testing session make sure to Contact Us and make sure to indicate that you want a test. We can make it happen for you.

      Paul Bittner W0AIH

It is with great Great Sadness and Sorrow that we have Lost one of our Great Hams, One who has Contributed and Given More to the Hobby than most will ever.

Paul was a Great Ambassador to Our Hobby and was always Ready and willing to Help Anyone in need.....   Many new hams owe their existence to Paul. He was One of a kind. If you ever needed a place to operate....   just play ....or get down and dirty in a Contest all it took was just to ask and Paul would open up his Fantastic Super Station to all and anyone who needed it, Paul loved to share his beautiful station with everyone......

Paul passed to the other side while working on one his towers and fell. A very unfortunate Accident . Paul loved to climb and work on all his many towers trying to improve at any point he could..... his Station pretty much had no rivals....    it was in a class all of it's own...... many many Hams from all over the world had graced the Station and many have gotten award winning results from working Paul's Dream......

Thanks you Paul, for all you have given of yourself and your station to all of us in this Ham Radio Hobby.

RIP My Friend you will be missed by many....

"A Great Man Never Leaves Us.....   But Lives On Through Us With Every Breath We Take"

Thank You Paul.

MVARA Field Day 2010 Operations

The Field Day equipment includes UHF, VHF and HF beam antennas along with dipoles for the HF bands. We also have tracking satellite programs as well as antennas to work the "birds”. There are two portable antenna towers each sporting tri-band beam antennas complete with their own rotors and controls as well as many dipole antennas.

JOTA with the Boy Scouts of America
