“Hi, my name is Jason N9MOE. I enjoy the many aspects of Amateur Radio.” Many years ago I got introduced to Ham radio in Scouting. We had a tour of a local ham shack. Later on after I received my drivers license, my buddies and I used to play around with CB radios. Hide and seek was always fun. After cell phones came to be more common, the cb thing faded. I’ve been interested in Scouting my whole life. I received my Eagle Scout rank in 1990. We learned a lot about survival and being prepared. Communications was one part of my kit that I was missing. Covid-19 came, riots, and unsteady things in the world. I got serious about learning and getting my licence. I received my Tech in 2020 General in 2021. Amateur Extra in 2022. Now that I have my license and am a part of the MVARA, there are so many fun things to do with amateur radio. Our club has a bus outfitted with awesome gear. The club members are welcoming and really support whatever project you are doing. I am currently an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 22 in La Crosse, WI. I teach the Radio Merit Badge and our club has done some Camporees and JOTA events. I also love doing POTA. Operating outside portable and experimenting with other hams testing gear and ideas keeps thing interesting. My other hobbies include Fly-fishing, fly-tying, guitar making, wine making, record collecting and volunteering with Trout Unlimited. 73, N9MOE Back to members page |
